Product information "GYPC, Recombinant, Human, aa1-57, His-Tag (Glycophorin-C Isoform 1, CD236, CD236R, GE, GPC, GPD, GYP"
GYPC, also known as glycophorin-C isoform 1, is an integral membrane glycoprotein. It is a minor species carried by human erythrocytes, but plays an important role in regulating the mechanical stability of red cells. A number of glycophorin C mutations have been described. The Gerbich and Yus phenotypes are due to deletion of exon 3 and 2, respectively. The Webb and Duch antigens, also known as glycophorin D, result from single point mutations of the glycophorin C gene. The glycophorin C protein has very little homology with glycophorins A and B. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa1-57 from human GYPC, fused to His-Tag at C-terminal, expressed in insect cell. Molecular Weight: ~7.2kD (66aa), 18-28kD (SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions.), Endotoxin: <1EU/1ug (determined by LAL method), AA Sequence: ADPMWSTRSP NSTAWPLSLE PDPGMASAST TMHTTTIAEP DPGMSGWPDG RMETSTPTIM HHHHHH, Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
