Product information "Zearalenone (Zearalanol, Zearanol, Mycotoxin F2, Toxin F"
Zearalenone is a phenolic resorcyclic acid lactone and can be produced by a number of species of Fusarium known to colonize cereals. Zearalenone (6-[10-hydroxy-6-oxo-trans-1-undecenyl]-b-resorcyclic acid lactone), also known as F-2 toxin, is an estrogenic mycotoxin that is produced by Fusarium graminearum. This fungus can infect cereal grains and can elaborate large quantities of zearalenone. Zearalenone is a naturally occurring estrogen, recognized as causing hormonal effects in animal species such as the pig. The association between zearalenone exposure and human diseases remains speculative at present, it has been considered as a possible causative agent in outbreaks of precocious pubertal changes in young children and has been suggested to have a possible involvement in human cervical cancer. , Solubility: , Limited solubility in water (~0.002g/100ml). Slightly soluble in hexane and progressively more in benzene, acetonitrile, dichloromethane, methanol, acetone. Produceds a clear, colorless solution at 5mg/ml in methanol. Melting Point: 167°C , Lambda max (MeOH): 235, 274, 313 nm , Applications: The resorcylic acid lactones have estrogenic activity. Zearalenone and its derivates have been used as veterinary anabolic or estrogen substitutes. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stale for 12 months. Reconstitute with methanol. Aliquot and store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
