Viaminate is a derivative of the retinoid vitamin A (Cay-20241). It reverses keratinization of vitamin A-deficient primary hamster tracheal epithelial cells when used at a concentration of 10 nM. Viaminate (1.7-15 mg/kg, p.o.) reduces epidermal keratinization, oil accumulation, ear thickness and edema, and ear skin levels of Il-6, Il-1beta, and Tnf-alpha in a rat model of acne induced by P. acnes.Formal Name: N-[4-(ethoxycarbonyl)phenyl]-retinamide.
