N-hexanoyl-DL-Homoserine lactone is a bacterial quorum sensing signaling molecule that is produced by mammalian pathogenic and rhizosphere-colonizing bacteria. Application of N-hexanoyl-DL-homoserine lactone (60 µM) to tomato leaves suppresses the development of lesions induced by the plant pathogenic fungi B. cinerea.
