Echinacoside is isolated from Cistanche tubulosa (Schrenk) R. Wisht stems. Significantly stimulated cell proliferation and enhanced cell survival by reducing cell apoptosis in the presence of H2O2 or the mixture of pro-inflammatory cytokines. May protect striatal dopaminergic neurons and may prevent and treat cerebral ischemic diseases. Has potential as a treatment for Parkinson's Disease.
