Product information "DABCYL-DBCO"
DABCYL is one of the most common dark quenchers used to prepare a variety of FRET-based nucleic acid probes and protease substrates. A dark quencher is a substance that absorbs excitation energy from a fluorophore and dissipates the energy as heat. When a dark quencher and a fluorophore are close together, such as in a molecule or protein, the fluorophore's emission is suppressed. This effect can be used to study molecular geometry and motion. DABCYL-DBCO is a convenient building block for developing FRET probes via the DBCO-based click chemistry, one of the most well-known strain-promoted azide-alkyne cycloadditions (SPAAC).
