White to off-white powder. Selective phosphodiesterase III inhibitor. A nonglycoside, noncatecholamine agent with positive inotropic effect. Inhibits cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase activity by competing with ATP but not cyclic AMP binding sites. It also inhibits platelet aggregation and induces disaggregation.
