Product information "Anti-IgG (Fab) Monoclonal Antibody (Clone:4A11)"
Immunoglobulin G (IgG) is a 150 kDa soluble protein that serves as a major effector molecule of the humoral immune response in man. Its concentration in blood plasma of healthy individuals is approximately 10 g/l, which accounts for about 75% of the total plasma immunoglobulins. IgG has the highest stability of blood immunoglobulins (T1/2 = 21 days) and is able of placental transfer. IgG is secreted by plasma cells at a comparably high rate as other immunoglobulins. Protein function: Binds to the Fc region of monomeric immunoglobulins gamma (PubMed:7964511, PubMed:10933786). Mediates the selective uptake of IgG from milk and helps newborn animals to acquire passive immunity. IgG in the milk is bound at the apical surface of the intestinal epithelium. The resultant FcRn-IgG complexes are transcytosed across the intestinal epithelium and IgG is released from FcRn into blood or tissue fluids. Possible role in transfer of immunoglobulin G from mother to fetus (PubMed:7964511). [The UniProt Consortium]
