Secretin is a neuropeptide hormone that regulates secretion from the stomach, pancreas, and liver. It binds to the rat secretin receptor (SCT-R, Ki = 3.3 nM) and increases intracellular cAMP (EC50 = 1 nM) in COS cells expressing rat SCT-R. It also increases SCT-R phosphorylation 7.2-fold at a concentration of 0.1 µM. Secretin dose-dependently increases the volume of pancreatic secretion and inhibits gastric acid secretion induced by gastrin I (Cay-24457) in rats when administered at a dose of 100 pmol/kg per hour.Molecular Formula: C129H216N42O42 .
