IGF-binding proteins prolong the half-life of the IGFs and have been shown to either inhibit or stimulate the growth promoting effects of the IGFs on cell culture. They alter the interaction of IGFs with their cell surface receptors. Also exhibits IGF-independent antiproliferative and apoptotic effects mediated by its receptor TMEM219/IGFBP-3R. {ECO:0000269, PubMed:20353938}. Biological Activity: Fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50 as determined by inhibiting IGF-II induced proliferation of serum free human MCF-7 cells is less than 200ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of ?5.0x10e3 IU/mg in the presence of 15ng/ml of rHuIGF-II.
