Product information "basic FGF 146 (a.a.) (human), animal-free recombinant"
Product Description: FGF-basic stands as one of the 23 recognized members within the FGF family. These proteins hold pivotal roles in prenatal development, postnatal growth, and tissue regeneration by fostering cellular proliferation and differentiation. FGF-basic, specifically, serves as a non-glycosylated growth factor with a penchant for heparin binding. Its expression spans across various tissues including the brain, pituitary, kidney, retina, bone, testis, adrenal gland, liver, monocytes, epithelial cells, and endothelial cells. FGF-basic transmits signals through FGFR 1b, 1c, 2c, 3c, and 4 receptors. The recombinant form of Human FGF-basic, comprised of 146 amino acid residues, yields a 16.4 kDa protein. . Amino acid sequence: PALPEDGGSG AFPPGHFKDP KRLYCKNGGF FLRIHPDGRV DGVREKSDPH IKLQLQAEER GVVSIKGVCA NRYLAMKEDG RLLASKCVTD ECFFFERLES NNYNTYRSRK YTSWYVALKR TGQYKLGSKT GPGQKAILFL PMSAKS. Endotoxin concentration: <0.1 EU/µg. Activity: Determined by a cell proliferation assay using Balb/c 3T3 cells. The expected ED50 is = 0.05 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of > 2 x 10^7 units/mg. Contains no preservative. Protein function: Acts as a ligand for FGFR1, FGFR2, FGFR3 and FGFR4 (PubMed:8663044). Also acts as an integrin ligand which is required for FGF2 signaling (PubMed:28302677). Binds to integrin ITGAV:ITGB3 (PubMed:28302677). Plays an important role in the regulation of cell survival, cell division, cell differentiation and cell migration (PubMed:8663044, PubMed:28302677). Functions as a potent mitogen in vitro (PubMed:1721615, PubMed:3964259, PubMed:3732516). Can induce angiogenesis (PubMed:23469107, PubMed:28302677). Mediates phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and thereby promotes retinal lens fiber differentiation (PubMed:29501879). [The UniProt Consortium]
