10mg/ml insulin in 25mM HEPES, pH 8.2, BioReagent, sterile-filtered, suitable for cell culture. Two-chain polypeptide hormone produced by the ß-cells of pancreatic islets. Its molecular weight is ~5800D. The alpha and beta chains are joined by two interchain disulfide bonds. The alpha chain contains an intrachain disulfide bond. Insulin regulates the cellular uptake, utilization, and storage of glucose, amino acids, and fatty acids and inhibits the breakdown of glycogen, protein, and fat. Recommended for use in cell culture applications at 0.5ml/liter of medium. 27 U/mg
