5beta-Tetrahydrocortisol

5beta-Tetrahydrocortisol is an endogenous metabolite of hydrocortisone (cortisol, Cay-20739). It is also an intermediate in the biosynthesis of beta-cortol (Cay-33412). It is formed from cortisol by steroid 5beta-reductase and is dehydrogenated by 20beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (20beta-HSD) to produce beta-cortol in the liver.
