VU036739 is an inhibitor of phospholipase D2 (PLD2, IC50 = 20 nM). It is selective for PLD2 over PLD1 (IC50 = 1,500 nM). VU036739 (10 µM) induces apoptosis in MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells. It decreases levels of deoxyribonucleoside triphosphates in serum-starved U87MG glioma cells when used at a concentration of 5 µM.
