Product information "Arbutin"

Light yellow powder. Soluble in DMSO (10mg/ml), ethanol (1mg/ml) or water (25mg/ml). Chemical. CAS: 497-76-7. Formula: C12H16O7. MW: 272.25. Arbutin is a glycosylated hydroquinone used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) that has been found in Arctostaphylos plants and has diverse biological activities, including tyrosinase inhibitory, antioxidant, anti-tumor and anti-inflammatory properties. Arbutin is a competitive inhibitor of tyrosinase in melanocytes (suppressing production of melanin) and therefore used as a skin-lightening agent and in the treatment of hyperpigmentation disorders.
