Product information "BGT, T4 phage, Recombinant, His-Tag (DNA beta-glucosyltransferase, Beta-GT, beta-glucosyltransferase"
Catalyzes the transfer of glucose (Glc) from uridine diphosphoglucose (UDP-Glc) to 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5-HMC) in double-stranded DNA. Is involved in a DNA modification process to protect the phage genome against its own nucleases and the host restriction endonuclease system. Source: Recombinant corresponding to aa1-351 from human BGT, T4 phage, fused to His-tag at C-terminal, expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~41.6kD, Applications: Suitable for use in the differentiation of hydroxymethylcytosine (HMC) from methylcytosine in DNA, via glucosylating HMC and protecting HMC from endonuclease cleavage. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -70°C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
