Lipids

Lipids are small, organic molecules, that are usually hydrophobic or amphiphillic. For example, this group includes fats, fatty acids, waxes, triglycerides, sterols and phospholipids. Lipids are the main structural component of biological membranes of all cells. As such, bacterial lipid structures and glycolipids can serve as pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and are recognized by the human immune system. Various lipids and lipid complexes of bacterial origin are therefore used as immunostimulants.

Estrone
Estrone

Item number: Cay10006485-500

Estrone is one of the three naturally occurring estrogens, the others being estradiol and estriol. Estrone is synthesized from androstenedione by the aromatase enzyme system in the ovaries and placenta, and is also synthesized from estradiol by 17-hydroxy steroid dehydrogenase in the liver. Serum concentrations of...

Arachidonoyl-L-carnitine (chloride)
Arachidonoyl-L-carnitine (chloride)

Item number: Cay9000939-10

Carnitine facilitates the transport of fatty acids into the mitochondria to be used in fatty acid metabolism. It does so by accepting acyl groups from fatty acids complexed with coenzyme A, which yields esterified carnitine or acylcarnitines that enable the transport of fatty acyl groups into the inner mitochondrial...

Glucosylceramide (bovine buttermilk)
Glucosylceramide (bovine buttermilk)

Item number: Cay23206-5

Glucosylceramides are formed by the tethering of glucose to a ceramide by glucosylceramides synthase. They are present in neuronal and non-neuronal mammalian tissues and are found at low quantities in a large number of plant species, where they comprise 5-30% of total lipids in the plant plasma membrane, and in...

TMPD (hydrochloride)
TMPD (hydrochloride)

Item number: Cay70455-5

TMPD is an easily oxidizable compound that serves as a reducing co-substrate for heme peroxidases. TMPD undergoes one-electron oxidation by the heme peroxidase higher oxidation states (compounds I and II) producing a highly colored product that absorbs at 611 nm. Thus, the stoichiometry of oxidation is 2 moles of...
