(R)-Lansoprazole

Lansoprazole (Cay-13627) is a proton pump inhibitor that irreversibly inactivates the H+/K+-stimulated ATPase pumps in parietal cells, inhibiting gastric acid secretion and increasing intragastric pH. It is a 1:1 racemic mixture of (R)-lansoprazole and (S)-lansoprazole, both of which are pharmacologically active. (R)-Lansoprazole is an enantiomerically pure form of lansoprazole.
