Progabide

Progabide is a GABA receptor agonist. It selectively binds to the GABAA and GABAB receptors in postmortem rat cortical membranes (IC50s = 35 and 100 µM, respectively) over alpha- and beta-adrenergic, dopamine, serotonin, histamine H1, and muscarinic receptors (IC50s = >100 µM) in radioligand binding assays. Progabide (200 mg/kg) increases survival and reduces seizure progression to status epilepticus in rats. It suppresses ethanol withdrawal-induced tremors and seizures in rats.
