Meticrane is a diuretic. It decreases the viability of Jurkat and K562 leukemia and SK-HEP-1 liver cancer cells when used at a concentration of 1 mM. Meticrane (0.125 mM) enhances cell death induced by 5-azacytidine (Cay-11164) or CUDC-101 (Cay-16426) in the same cells. Formulations containing meticrane have been used in the treatment of hypertension.
