5-hydroxy Saxagliptin is a major active metabolite of saxagliptin (Cay-23697). 5-hydroxy Saxagliptin inhibits dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP-4, Ki = 2.6 nM for human recombinant enzyme).
