5-Carboxamidotryptamine (hydrochloride)

5-Carboxyamidotryptamine is an agonist of the serotonin (5-HT) receptor subtypes 5-HT1 and 5-HT7. It binds to the 5-HT1D receptor in postmortem human cortical tissue (IC50s = 1.82 and 2,041 nM for the high- and low-affinity binding sites, respectively) and the 5-HT7 receptor in HEK293 cells expressing 5-HT7 (Ki = 0.79 nM) in radioligand binding assays. 5-Carboxyamidotryptamine induces hypotension and bradycardia and increases hindlimb vascular conductance in anesthetized rats when administered via injection into the rostral ventrolateral medulla..
