Product information "Anti-Human MMP1 Antibody Pair"
Product Description: Matrix Metalloproteinase 1 (MMP1), also known as interstitial collagenase, is an enzyme that plays a vital role in the degradation of extracellular matrix components, particularly collagen. This protein is crucial for normal physiological processes such as tissue remodeling, wound healing, and embryogenesis. MMP1 is expressed in various tissues, including the skin, lung, and synovium, and its activity is tightly regulated by tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs). Dysregulation of MMP1 has been implicated in several diseases, particularly in inflammatory conditions and cancer. Elevated levels of MMP1 are associated with rheumatoid arthritis, where it contributes to joint destruction, and with various cancers, including breast and prostate cancer, where it enhances tumor invasion and metastasis. The dual role of MMP1 in both normal tissue homeostasis and disease progression highlights its potential as a therapeutic target. Protein Function: Cleaves collagens of types I, II, and III at one site in the helical domain. Also cleaves collagens of types VII and X (PubMed:1645757, PubMed:2153297, PubMed:2557822). In case of HIV infection, interacts and cleaves the secreted viral Tat protein, leading to a decrease in neuronal Tat's mediated neurotoxicity (PubMed:16807369) [The Uniprot Consortium]
