Product information "Anti-Human IFNA2 Antibody Pair"
Product Description: IFNA2 is a gene that encodes the interferon alpha 2 protein, which is a member of the type I interferon family. This cytokine is produced in response to viral infection as part of the innate immune response and has potent antiviral, antiproliferative, and immunomodulatory properties. The IFNA2 protein binds to the IFNAR1 and IFNAR2 receptor subunits, which are ubiquitously expressed, allowing it to act on virtually all body cells. IFNA2 is effective in reducing the symptoms and duration of the common cold and in treating many types of cancer, including some hematological malignancies and solid tumors. A deficiency of type I interferons like IFNA2 in the blood is thought to be a hallmark of severe COVID-19 and may provide a rationale for using IFNA2 as a therapeutic approach. However, chronic overexpression of IFNA2 can also be detrimental, leading to immunosuppression and increased virus replication. Therefore, a balanced and appropriate IFNA2 response is required to regulate an optimal antiviral innate immune response.
