Product Description: Ubiquitin conjugating enzyme E2 M (UBE2M), also known as Ubc12, is a crucial mediator in the NEDD8 conjugation pathway. It accepts NEDD8 from the UBA3-NAE1 E1 complex and catalyzes its covalent attachment to other proteins, particularly cullins. UBE2M is highly conserved across species and plays essential roles in protein neddylation, which regulates various cellular processes including cell cycle progression, signal transduction, and protein degradation. The enzyme is stress-inducible and can function as both a neddylation E2 under physiological conditions and a ubiquitylation E2 under stressed conditions. UBE2M has been implicated in cancer progression, particularly in hepatocellular carcinoma where it promotes cell proliferation via the beta-catenin/cyclin D1 signaling pathway.
