Cellular Stains
Find the right stain for the right cell organelle with products from Biotium. The portfolio of Biotium contains stains for various components of mammalian cells, including membrane and cell surface (CellBrite™ and MemBrite™), cytoskeleton, nucleus, mitochondria (MitoView™), lysosomes (LysoView™), the cytoplasm and vesicle trafficking. You will even find neutral lipid stains for staining lipid droplets in live or fixed cells (LipidSpot™). Released July 2024.
Bacterial Stains
BactoView™ Dead Stains are unique DNA binding dyes designed for highly selective staining of dead bacteria for microscopy or flow cytometry analysis. Being excluded from both live gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, BactoView™ Dead Stains allow for a highly selective live/dead discrimination. BactoView™ Dead staining is simple and does not require a wash step. The stains are available with a wide selection of emission wavelengths ranging from green to near-infrared, for microscopy or flow cytometry analysis. Released July 2024.
Yeast Stains
Discover fluorescent dyes for viability analysis, cell periphery, vacuoles, bud scars, and more. Biotium has developed yeast viability dyes and kits to distinguish live from dead cells, or identify cells that are metabolically active. The dyes have been validated with S. cerevisiae, C. albicans, Z. bailii, and Aspergillus. Moreover, Biotium offers cell periphery stains, organelle stains (validated in S. cerevisiae) and live cell nuclear stains. Released July 2024.
Live Cell Apoptosis Assays
NucView® caspase-3 substrates are novel fluorescent probes that allow real-time detection of caspase-3/7 activity in intact cells without inhibiting apoptosis progression. They are non-toxic, allowing multi-day experiments to be performed. The assay is fast and easy, requiring no washing, and can be analyzed by microscopy or flow cytometry. Biotium also offers kits containing the NucView® 488 Substrate together with other viability dyes for convenient multi-color experiments. Released July 2024.

Products for Flow Cytometry
The Biotium product portfolio contains a number of tools for flow cytometry (FC) applications. Some of the bright and photostable CF® Dyes can be used in FC as an alternative to Alexa Fluor®. In addition, Biotium provides primary antibodies and biomolecules conjugated to CF® Dyes as well as antibody labeling kits (also for nanobodies). You are looking for an assay instead? Benefit from a variety of cellular assays for investigating cell viability (Live-or-Dye™), cell proliferation (ViaFluor®), apoptosis (NucView®) or the mitochondrial membrane potential (MitoView™). Released July 2024.
CF® Dyes - Next-Generation Fluorescent Dyes
CF® Dyes are a series of highly water-soluble fluorescent dyes spanning the visible and near-infrared spectrum for labeling biomolecules, especially proteins and nucleic acids. Developed by scientists at Biotium, CF® Dyes rival or exceed the quality of other commercial dyes, such as Alexa Fluor® dyes. Biotium currently offers more than 30 CF® Dyes. The CF® Dye product line includes reactive dyes with a full selection of functional groups, easy-to-use labeling kits, CF® Dye-labeled primary and secondary antibodies, and many other CF® Dye conjugates such as toxins, tracers, ligands, and nucleotides. Released July 2024.
Fluorescent Ion and pH Indicators
To study the role of the important intracellular messenger calcium in regulating various cellular events, it is essential to quantitatively monitor its concentration. With Biotium, you get access to a broad selection of calcium indicators, calcium chelators and calcium ionophores. In addition, you will also find calcium calibration buffers in Biotium's portfolio. If you are interested in other ions or if you need to monitor the pH in your studies, Biotium also offers indicators for chloride and for zinc as well as a number of different pH indicators such as BCECF, 5-FAM and Flubida-2. Released July 2024.
