Nanoparticle-labeled antibodies are a promising alternative to conventional enzyme-labeled antibodies in Western blot and dot blot. This bio-nanotechnology is used in the Particle Immuno Assay (PIA for short) from PiNa-Tec. Gold nanoparticles are visible even in very small quantities, so detection does not require any detection step and no evaluation device. Secondary antibodies labeled with gold nanoparticles can be used directly for antibody detection. In addition, they can be mixed with primary antibodies to enable simple antigen detection. All the usual washing steps are no longer necessary.
