Product information "Tropomyosin a-3 Chain/TPM3 Protein (recombinant human)"
Protein Construction: Recombinant Human Tropomyosin alpha-3 Chain is produced by our E.coli expression system and the target gene encoding Met1-Met248 is expressed. Sequence: Met 1-Met248. Endotoxin: < 1.0 EU per µg as determined by the LAL method. Apparent Molecular Mass: 32 kDa. Protein function: Tropomyosin Alpha-3 Chain (TPM3) is a member of the Tropomyosin family. TPM3 exists as a heterodimer consisting of an alpha and a beta chain. TPM3 plays a central role in association with the Troponin complex and in the calcium dependent regulation of vertebrate striated muscle contraction. Defects in TPM3 are the cause of thyroid papillary carcinoma. Mutations in the TPM3 gene cause autosomal dominant nemaline myopathy, and oncogenes formed by chromosomal translocations involving this locus are linked with cancer. Protein function: Binds to actin filaments in muscle and non-muscle cells. Plays a central role, in association with the troponin complex, in the calcium dependent regulation of vertebrate striated muscle contraction. Smooth muscle contraction is regulated by interaction with caldesmon. In non-muscle cells is implicated in stabilizing cytoskeleton actin filaments. [The UniProt Consortium]
