Soluble BCMA/CD269 (human, recombinant)

B cell maturation antigen (BCMA), also known as CD269, is a member of the TNF receptor superfamily. It is composed of an extracellular domain, a transmembrane region, and a cytoplasmic domain. BCMA is found in the cell membrane of late memory B cells and recognizes TNF superfamily member 13B (TNFSF13B), also known as B cell activating factor (BAFF), and a proliferation-inducing ligand (APRIL), which both promote B cell survival and differentiation into short- or long-lived plasma cells, antibody production, and immunoglobulin class switching. The extracellular domain of BCMA can be cleaved by gamma-secretase to release soluble BCMA (sBCMA), which can bind APRIL and prevent APRIL-induced signaling in B cells, reducing B cell survival. Increased sBCMA levels are associated with lower progression-free- and overall survival in patients with multiple myeloma. Cayman's Soluble BCMA/CD269 (human, recombinant) protein can be used for binding assay and Western blot (WB) applications. This protein consists of 65 amino acids and has a calculated molecular weight of 7. kDa. By SDS-PAGE, under reducing conditions, the apparent molecular mass of the protein is approximately 16 kDa due to glycosylation.
