Soluble BCMA/CD269 (human, recombinant)

B cell maturation antigen (BCMA), also known as CD269, is a member of the TNF receptor superfamily. It is composed of an extracellular domain, a transmembrane region, and a cytoplasmic domain. BCMA is found in the cell membrane of late memory B cells and recognizes TNF superfamily member 13B (TNFSF13B), also known as B cell activating factor (BAFF), and a proliferation-inducing ligand (APRIL), which both promote B cell survival and differentiation into short- or long-lived plasma cells, antibody production, and immunoglobulin class switching. The extracellular domain of BCMA can cleaved by gamma-secretase to release soluble BCMA (sBCMA), which can bind APRIL and prevent APRIL-induced signaling in B cells. Increased sBCMA levels are associated with lower progression-free- and overall survival in patients with multiple myeloma. Cayman's Soluble BCMA/CD269 (human, recombinant) protein can be used for protein binding assays using biolayer interferometry. This protein is a disulfide-linked homodimer. The reduced monomer, composed of BCMA (amino acids 1-54) fused to human IgG1 Fc at its C-terminus, consists of 292 amino acids and has a calculated molecular weight of 32. kDa. As a result of glycosylation, the monomer migrates at approximately 41. kDa by SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions.
