Rhamnogalacturonan exolyase 26A (BtRgl26A), assigned the E.C. number 4.2.2.24, is a derivative of Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron. It is an enzyme that participates in the exotype eliminative cleavage of alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-1,4-alpha-D-galactopyranosyluronic acid bonds of rhamnogalacturonan I oligosaccharides containing alpha-L-rhamnopyranose at the reducing end and 4-deoxy-4,5-unsaturated D-galactopyranosyluronic acid at the non-reducing end. The recombinant BtRgl26A, purified from Escherichia coli, is a modular Pectate Lyase family 26 (PL26) enzyme, with an N-terminal family 66 Carbohydrate Binding Module (CBM66) (see more details at www.cazy.org).The protein is supplied in a solution containing 35 mM NaHepes buffer (pH 7.5), 750 mM NaCl, 200 mM Imidazole, 3.5 mM CaCl2, and 25% (v/v) glycerol, at a concentration of 0,5 mg/mL.
