Recombinant full-length human HSP60 was expressed in E. coli cells using an N-Terminal Glutathione-S-Transferase fusion protein. The purity was determined to be >95% by densitometry. Protein function: Implicated in mitochondrial protein import and macromolecular assembly. May facilitate the correct folding of imported proteins. May also prevent misfolding and promote the refolding and proper assembly of unfolded polypeptides generated under stress conditions in the mitochondrial matrix. [The UniProt Consortium]
