The gp100 Peptide (280-288, YLEPGPVTA) is a peptide corresponding to gp100 (glycoprotein 100, also known as pmel17) amino acids 280-288. Gp100 (glycoprotein 100), also known as premelanosome protein 17 or pmel17, is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein present in melanin producing cells, such as melanocytes of the skin and eye. It is critical for melanogenesis and undergoes proteolytically cleaved during the process. Gp100 is also present in melanoma, serving as a tumor-associated antigen. Several approaches are being developed around gp100, including vaccines, adoptive cell therapy and ImmTACs (immune-mobilizing monoclonal T cell receptors against cancer). An HLA*A02:01 restricted ImmTAC, tebentafusp, has been developed and is currently used in the treatment of uveal melanoma.
