Product information "Ganglioside GM1 (Asialo GM1, Monosialoanglioside GM1) (Bovine brain, Monosialoanglio side GM1, sodiu"
A member of the family of glycosphingolipids, monosialoanglioside acts as a receptor and antigen for cholera toxin. GM1 ganglioside, one of the glycosphingolipids widely distributed in all tissues, occurs in highest concentrations in the central nervous system. It is primarily located in the outer surface of the mammalian cell's plasma membrane and in synaptic membranes of the CNS. GM1 ganglioside modulates a number of cell surface and receptor activities as well as neuronal differentiation and development, protein phosphorylation and synaptic function. Source: Bovine brain, Synonyms: Monosialoanglioside GM1, sodium salt (Bovine brain), CAS No: 37758-47-7, Molecular Formula: C73H131N3O31, Molecular Weight: 1546.82, Appearance: Whit to off-white powder, Purity (TLC): >98%, Nomenclature: [II3Neu5AcGgOse4Cer][b-Gal-(1-3)-b-GalNAc-(1-4)-[a-Neu5Ac-(2-3)]-b-Gal(1-4)-b-Glc-(1-1')-Cer], Applications: Suitable for use as an antigen and receptor for cholera toxin, growth inhibitor marker in fibroblasts and marker for lymphoid subpopulations. Stable for the majority of sialidase. Solubility: Soluble in chloroform/methanol mix (2:1). Slighlty soluble in water (micellar aggregates).
