Galectin-1 purity was determined to be greater than 95% as determined by analysis by UV-Spectroscopy at 280nm and by reducing and non-reducing SDS-pAGE. Protein function: May regulate apoptosis, cell proliferation and cell differentiation. Binds beta-galactoside and a wide array of complex carbohydrates. Inhibits CD45 protein phosphatase activity and therefore the dephosphorylation of Lyn kinase. Strong inducer of T-cell apoptosis. [The UniProt Consortium]
