Product information "Collagenase, ~ 300 u/mg, C. histolyticum (EC 3.4.24.3.)"
Collagenases degrade native helical collagen fibrils. The substrate, collagen, is the major fibrous component of animal extracellular connective tissue: skin, tendon, blood vessels, bone, etc. Suitable for use in cell dissociation procedures. Collagenase Nomenclature: Type 1-Containing average amounts of assayed activities (collagenase, caseinase, clostripain and tryptic activities). It is generally recommended for fat, adrenal, and liver cells., Type 2-Containing greater clostripain activity. It is generally used for heart, bone, muscle, thyroid, cartilage, and liver cells., Type 3-Containing low proteolytic activity. It is usually used for mammary and fetal cells. , Type 4-Containing low tryptic activity. It is commonly used for islets and other applications where receptor integrity is crucial. Absorbance: As reported , Activity: > 500 units/mg dry weight (dw), < 50 units/mg Caseinase (dw), < 2.0 units/mg Clostripain (dw), < 0.25 units/mg Tryptic (dw), Unit Definition: 1 unit releases 1umole of L-leucine equivalents from collagen in 5 hours at 37ºC, pH 7.5. Quality Control: SDS-PAGE, Storage and Stability: Collagenase is stable for 6 months at 4ºC.
