Description: beta-1,4-galactosyltransferase 4 (B4GALT4) is a single-pass type II membrane protein that belongs to the Glycosyltransferase 7 family. B4GALT4 consist of the following 2 domains: N-Acetyllactosamine Synthase and beta-N-Acetylglucosaminyl-Glycolipid beta-1,4-Galactosyltransferase. B4GALT4 is highly expressed in the heart, placenta, kidney, and pancreas, it is lowly expressed in the brain, colon, lung, muscle, ovary, testis, and uterus. B4GALT4 function is responsible for the synthesis of complex-type N-linked oligosaccharides in many glycoproteins as well as the carbohydrate moieties of glycolipids.
