Bisphenol A bis(3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl) ether (BADGE-2HCl, BPA-CPE) is a synthetic polyether compound comprising two bisphenol A (BPA) molecules and one 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl group. In scientific research, BADGE-2HCl has found numerous applications. As a surfactant, it aids in the synthesis of polymeric materials by reducing the surface tension of polymer solutions, leading to improved dispersion of the polymer. Its role as a plasticizer enables it to decrease the viscosity of polymer solutions, enhancing the dispersion of the polymer. Furthermore, as a stabilizer, it effectively reduces the rate of polymer degradation, contributing to enhanced stability. Bisphenol A bis(3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl) ether is a standard for determining toxic monomers released from polymers of the inner coating of cans. This compound can be used as analytical reference material.
