A phytosterol with diverse biological activities, scavenges DPPH radicals in a cell-free assay (IC50 = 21.1 mM), toxic to mosquito larvae and adults (LC50s = 456.99 and 891.23 µg/ml, respectively), decreases the proliferation of P. falciparum (IC50 = 250.7 ng/ml), reduces serum levels of GDH, ALT, and Ldh and increases hepatic levels of SOD, Cat, GSH, and Gpx in a rat model of CCl4-induced liver damage at 40 mg/kg per day
