NBD-PE... more
Product information "NBD-PE [N-(7-Nitrobenz-2-Oxa-1,3-Diazol-4-yl)-1,2-Dihexadecanoyl-sn-Glycero-3-Phosphoethanolamine, T"
NBD-PE (N-(7-Nitrobenz-2-oxa-1,3-diazol-4-yl)-1,2-dihexadecanoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine, triethylammonium salt) is a fluorescent phospholipid commonly used in cell biology research for studying membrane dynamics, including membrane fluidity and trafficking. Its ability to integrate seamlessly into cellular membranes and fluoresce upon excitation makes it a valuable tool for investigating the physical and functional properties of lipid bilayers. This phospholipid is modified at its head group with the environment-sensitive fluorophore NBD, which has excitation and emission maxima at approximately 467 nm and 539 nm, respectively. When paired with complementary dyes such as Rhodamine-DHPE (#60026) or Texas Red(R)-DHPE (#60027), NBD-PE enables fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET)-based assays for studying membrane fusion events. Furthermore, it has been widely applied in fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) experiments to quantitatively assess membrane dynamics and lipid mobility.
