Shearinine B is an indole diterpene originally isolated from E. shearii that has antiinsectan activity. Shearinine B (100 ppm in the diet) reduces the growth rate of H. zea larvae and the feeding rate of C. hemipterus larvae by 94 and 50%, respectively. It also induces 84% mortality in S. frugiperda larvae in a leaf disc assay..
