Hypaconitine is a diterpene alkaloid that has been found in Aconitum and has diverse biological activities. It inhibits nerve stimulation-evoked contractions in isolated mouse phrenic nerve-diaphragm muscle preparations (IC50 = 118 nM). Hypaconitine (0.025 mg/kg) prevents carrageenan-induced paw edema and reduces acetic acid-induced writhing in mice (ED50 = 0.1 mg/kg). Hypaconitine is toxic to mice (LD50 = 1.9 mg/kg, s.c.).Formal Name: (1alpha,6alpha,14alpha,15alpha,16beta)-1,6,16-trimethoxy-4-(methoxymethyl)-20-methyl-aconitane-8,13,14,15-tetrol, 8-acetate 14-benzoate.
