Orange to red powder. Soluble in chloroform. Fluorescent probe. Long wavelength red labeling derivative for proteins. Can be used as a reversible inhibitor of the erythrocyte calcium pump as well as an effective phosphorescent probe in measurement of rotational diffusion of proteins and in fluorescence energy transfer (FRET) studies. EITC tagged molecules may be used together with fluorescein-5'-isothiocyanate (FITC) tagged molecules in fluoresce resonance energy transfer (FRET) based assays. Spectral properties: Abs/Em = 520/544 nm
