White to off-white crystalline powder. Soluble in water (20 mg/ml). Sparingly soluble in DMSO (1mg/ml), methanol or ethanol. Chemical. CAS: 120011-70-3. Formula: C24H29NO3 . HCl. MW: 379.5 . 36.5. Synthetic. Potent non-competitive reversible acetylcholinesterase inhibitor that readily crosses the blood-brain barrier to reduce the breakdown of acetylcholine. Displays >1000-fold selectivity for acetylcholinesterase (AChE) over butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE). It is commonly used in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease to improve cognition, memory and behavior.
