Dimidium is a trypanocide., In vivo, dimidium (0.25-0.7 mg/kg) reduces parasite burden in T. congolense-infected mice. It also completely clears trypanosomes from the peripheral blood in zebu oxen naturally infected with T. congolense when administered intramuscularly at a dose of 0.75 mg/kg.
