DiFMUP is a fluorogenic substrate for phosphatases. Upon enzymatic cleavage by phosphatases, 6,8-difluoro-7-hydroxy-4-methylcoumarin (Cay-36017) is released, which has an absorption/emission maxima of 358/455 nm, respectively, and its fluorescence can be used to quantify phosphatase activity.
