(-)-Altenuene is a natural mycotoxin that was first isolated from A. tenuis. It has antioxidant activity and inhibits cholinesterases. Unlike tenuazonic acid (Cay-11443), (-)-altenuene does not display toxicity as assessed by the chicken embryo assay.
