3-hydroxy Anthranilic acid is an intermediate in the oxidative metabolism of tryptophan in the kynurenine pathway that demonstrates immunoprotective effects. It has been shown to inhibit nitric oxide synthase in macrophages and to stimulate TGF-beta production, suppressing pro-inflammatory activity of Th1 cells.
