Isolated from Streptomyces sp. Beige powder. Soluble in DMSO or water. Cinnamoyl aminoglycoside antibiotic. Protein synthesis inhibitor in vitro. Selective inhibitor of bacterial translation elongation, through binding to the 50S subunit. Inhibits EF-G-dependent mRNA translocation but not translocation of the aminoacyl-tRNA. Moderate antibacterial compound, in both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
