Isolated from Penicillum minioluyeum. White to off-white powder. Soluble in DMSO. Broad spectrum antifungal agent compared to sordarin. Shows growth inhibitory activity against pathogenic fungal strains such as Candida albicans, Candida glabrata and Cryptococcus neoformans. Inhibits the protein synthesis in Candida albicans, but not mammalian cells, most probably through elongation factor inhibition.
